Confirmation is an opportunity for those baptised as infants or others within the faith who have ‘come to years of discretion’ to make a public affirmation of their commitment to our Lord Jesus Christ.
It is conducted by a Bishop of the Diocese who will lay hands on the candidate and pray over them.
Prior to confirmation a candidate must have undertaken suitable preparation and be able to render an appropriate account of the faith and life expected of a Christian.
Preparation involves instruction in the Scriptures and in the Catechism and is conducted by the clergy of the Church.
